Adriatic Charter Summit
August 2, 2017 – Podgorica, Montenegro

Media Credential Application Deadline: Thursday, July 27, at 2:00 PM CEST

Background:

Montenegro and the Republic of Macedonia will co-host the Adriatic Charter Summit on August 2, 2017, in Podgorica, Montenegro.  In addition to the Vice President of the United States, Heads of Governments and States from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia will participate in the summit, during which the leaders will discuss advancing the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of countries in the region, advancing reforms, promoting regional reconciliation and joint contribution to regional and global stability.

Summary and Security
The summit will be held in Podgorica, Montenegro. Details regarding venue locations will be announced to accredited media.

To access any summit event, all media will require a summit-issued credential regardless of existing federal or official identification. Due to capacity limitations, most coverage opportunities at the summit will be pooled and will require an overlay for access, subject to the determination of attending delegations. Approval of media accreditation will permit access to the press facilities at the summit venue, but does not guarantee access to specific events.

Additional details regarding security, credential pick-up, arrival logistics, and pre-set arrangements will be electronically released to accredited media.

Accreditation and Access
All media representatives wishing to cover the Conference must apply for a media credential by no later than Thursday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. Central European Summer Time . The Accreditation Application Form can be accessed by clicking here.

Approvals will be issued in the order applications are received. No late or last-minute requests may be accommodated.

Schedule and Coverage Opportunities
Press events at the Adriatic Charter Summit will include keynote remarks and a plenary session taking place between 12:30-2:00 p.m. local time. A definitive program will be delivered to media representatives upon accreditation.

For this event, the United States does not expect or anticipate significant side-briefings or interview opportunities

Additional detailed regarding press facilities available at the summit venue will be provided at the conclusion of the credentialing process.

Liveshot Positions or Live Transmission Vehicle Positions: Organizations seeking live shot positions or live transmission vehicle parking should submit inquiries to summitmedia@state.gov as soon as possible and not later than July 26, 2017.

LODGING & TRANSPORTATION
No lodging/accommodations or transportation will be provided for press attending the Adriatic Charter Summit.

CLIMATE AND TIME ZONE

Podgorica, Montenegro is located in Central European Summer Time  (CEST)).

During the Conference, Podgorica will have a warm climate; the average daytime temperature is expected to be around 82 °F?26 °C , with hotter days expected to reach an average high of 88 °F/ 26 °C..

Sunrise is typically around 5:35 a.m. and sunset is typically around 8:00 p.m.

The currency is the Euro ((€)), and most local establishments accept a variety of electronic credit/debit cards. Foreign currency exchange brokers are limited throughout the region.
