The United States Embassy to Podgorica, in cooperation with the Centre for Training of the Judiciary and the Prosecution of Montenegro and the OSCE mission organized a second iteration of the Advanced Training on Public Relations for representatives of the State Prosecution and Courts November 7-9 in Budva, Montenegro.
Resident Legal Adviser Erik Larson and the Head of the Sector for Initial Education at the Centre, Marina Pejovic, opened the training.
Based on his extensive experience in the region, RLA Larson emphasized the importance of transparency in the work of the prosecution and judiciary. Following three previous trainings on basic PR, this second Advanced Training on Public Relation offers a more focused set of skills for the participants, with concrete presentations and tools focused on specific subjects, such as relations with new media, including internet news outlets and relations with international media organizations.
Openness and transparency by the Prosecution and Courts are important in order to avoid suspicion and cynicism by the public and to increase public awareness.
This event is one in the series of endeavors that contribute to the continuing reform of the rule of law in Montenegro.
