Seanema Film Festival Ulcinj was held in Ulcinj September 25-28. The festival, with the theme “Challenging the Corrupted Mind”, showed documentaries from around the world about anti- corruption initiatives and civic activism. It was initiated by exchange alumna from Ulcinj, Drita Llolla, with a group of fellow alumni and youth from Ulcinj. The festival, partly supported by the U.S. Embassy though State Department Alumni Office funds, soon expanded beyond its initial idea and developed into an international festival which gathered a wide range of exchange alumni from Montenegro and the US, numerous guests from Albania and Kosovo, as well as some of the documentaries’ protagonists from Bogota and Greece. The festival closed with the screening of the U.S. documentary “A Whisper to a Roar” and a panel discussion featuring, among others, U.S. Embassy PAO Mark Weinberg, who underlined the importance of the topic to the full house at the festival’s closing evening.
