Ambassador Reinke Speaks at ENEMO Roundtable

On February 22, 2021, Ambassador Reinke participated in a roundtable organized by the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO) and the Montenegrin Parliament to discuss electoral reform.  In her virtual address, the Ambassador said that she was very proud that the State Department, along with the National Endowment for Democracy and the National Democratic Institute, was able to support the important work of ENEMO to not only observe the August 30th parliamentary elections in Montenegro, but also to provide invaluable recommendations on making improvements to further strengthen election structures in the future.  Noting that the parliamentary elections, which were followed by a peaceful transition of power, represent an important step toward the maturity of the Montenegro’s democratic system, the Ambassador emphasized that in order to carry out the necessary electoral reforms, both the ruling parties and the opposition will need to collaborate.
