On June 5, Ambassador Margaret Ann Uyehara spoke at the official opening of the fifth To Be Secure (2BS) Forum, a high-level international conference on security issues taking place in Budva, Montenegro. The 2BS Forum is organized by the Atlantic Council of Montenegro, under the auspices of the Government of Montenegro and in partnership with NATO and the U.S. Embassy in Podgorica. The aim of the Forum is to gather high-level government and international officials and experts on international security and security in South-East Europe to discuss major regional security challenges. Ambassador Uyehara was joined by Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for European and Eurasian Affairs Hoyt Yee for meetings with Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic and Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Luksic during 2BS.
During his visit, DAS Yee also met with Speaker of Parliament Ranko Krivokapic and Deputy Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, as well as Montenegrin NGO representatives and opposition leaders.
