On Saturday, May 7, Ambassador Margaret Ann Uyehara, along with the British Ambassador Ian Whitting, Ministry of Education representative Mubera Kurpejovic, British Council Country Director Vanja Madzgalj, Bureau of Education representative Ljiljana Subotic, Faculty of Philology Dean Dragan Bogojević and ELTAM President Dragana Radoman, opened the second National Conference of English Language Teachers, ELTAM Day 2016, at the Faculty of Philology in Niksic.

The conference is part of a wider project entitled “Shaping the Way English is Taught in Montenegro”, which includes a series of teacher trainings based on the State Department’s online seminar “Shaping the Way We Teach English”. The project is financially supported by the U.S. Embassy in Podgorica and implemented by the English Language Teachers’ Association of Montenegro (ELTAM).

The conference gathered more than 130 English language teachers from all levels and sectors in Montenegro to share innovative teaching ideas, concerns, experiences and successes. The focus of ELTAM Day 2016 is on both practical and theoretical ideas which can improve the skills of English language teachers in Montenegro and their understanding of new developments in the field. One of the keynote speakers at the conference was invited an American English Language Fellow, Christopher Hastings.
