On Thursday, February 19, 2015, U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Margaret Ann Uyehara had the honor to present her credentials to the President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović in the Presidential Residence in Cetinje. After the credentialing ceremony, Ambassador Uyehara had an opportunity to speak with President Vujanović and reiterate her commitment to strengthening the U.S. – Montenegrin partnership.

A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor, Ambassador Uyehara has three decades of experience managing Department of State staff and resources. Ambassador Uyehara most recently served as Executive Director of the Bureaus of European and Eurasian Affairs and International Organization Affairs in the Department of State. Previous tours have included Austria, Germany, Ukraine, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, United Kingdom and Mali.  Ambassador Uyehara is a native of Berea, Ohio.  She earned a B.A. in Political Science at Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1981 and studied at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.  She speaks German, French, Ukrainian and Japanese.  Ambassador Uyehara and her husband, Foreign Service Officer Michael Uyehara, have five children.
