On December 1, Ambassador Uyehara spoke on the IPR Conference organized by Microsoft Montenegro. During the conference, Ambassador underlined that United States cares deeply about the protection of intellectual property highlighting that IP generates $5.8 trillion per year for the U.S. economy which represents a greater percentage of GDP than any other country in the world.   IP – intensive industries create 38 percent of U.S. GDP, 74 percent of total U.S. export totaling nearly $1 trillion and employ over 55 million Americans and hundreds of millions of people worldwide.  She said that IP protection represents a critical indicator of respect for the rule of law and a determining factor for investment decisions.
