The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) held a two-day training for judges in Tivat Montenegro on October 24 – 25, 2019, which focused on providing technical assistance on the enforcement of international sales contracts.
CLDP technical assistance aims to improve the foreign investment climate in Montenegro by combatting corruption that undermines judicial institutions through rule of law trainings based on international standards. Workshops focused on subject matter expertise in commercial areas of the law, such as bankruptcy, intellectual property, contract enforcement, in addition to overall case management techniques for commercial civil adjudication. CLDP began technical assistance in Montenegro in 2018 in the area of customs to promote investment and trade as part of its larger efforts in the region.
