Fashion Show for Women’s Empowerment

Ambassador Margaret Ann Uyehara hosted a Fashion Show for Women’s Empowerment at her residence, together with Australian Ambassador Julia Feeney. The show featured the works of Open Centre Bona Fide from Pljevlja and NGO Niti from Bijelo Polje.

“Today we shine the spotlight on two inspirational organizations that are empowering women in Montenegro to overcome challenges and reach greater heights. Bona Fide and Niti are leaders in their respective communities where they offer life-changing programs to women,” said Ambassador Uyehara in her opening remarks.

The NGOs presented clothing lines and different types of handicrafts produced by their program participants, many of whom are disadvantaged women from the North. This event is part of the Embassy’s continuous efforts towards promotion of women’s economic empowerment and women’s rights. In 2016, U.S. Embassy Podgorica supported NGO Niti’s project “Path of Wool-Entirely Natural” through the Democracy Commission Small Grants Program, while the Australian Embassy supported Bona Fide through their small grants program.
