On October 27, United States Defense Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Tarquinto, laid a wreath at the memorial site of Private First Class Steve P. Kilibarda in Velimlje, Niksic, Montenegro.  PFC Kilibara served in the U.S. 3rd Infantry Division during World War I and was recognized with the Distinguished Service Cross for his heroic actions at Verdun, France in 1918.  The Distinguished Service Cross is the second highest military decoration that can be awarded to a member of the United States Army and is awarded for extraordinary heroism while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force.
