Chargé d’Affaires Judy Kuo participated in today’s kickoff meeting for the U.S. funded project “Improving Provision of Services and Awareness to Combat Trafficking in Persons in the Balkans: Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Kosovo”.
This project builds on regional and national mechanisms to promote collaboration and identification of individuals who may be victims of trafficking in persons (TIP). “We hope this project will promote regional coordination and improve national mechanisms for early identification and assistance to trafficking in persons victims,” Kuo stated. She added that the United States will continue to support Montenegro in implementing all necessary rule of law reforms, including assisting in enhancing efforts to fight human trafficking.
The 2017 State Department TIP Report again listed Montenegro as a Tier 2 Watch List country. For more information on tier placements, visit: https://www.state.gov/j/tip/rls/tiprpt/2017/271117.htm
