Summary: The U.S. Mission in Podgorica, Montenegro is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Purchasing Agent.

The work schedule for this position is:

  • full time – 40 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities – Purchasing Agent

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time after the receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position:  No

Duties:  Position is responsible for the procurement of goods and services for all sections and agencies at post.  Incumbent reviews requests for procurement, coordinates with requesting offices to ensure requests are complete, determines the type of action necessary, prioritizing requests as needed, especially at the end of the fiscal year.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EDUCATION:   Completion of secondary school is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  One year of experience in purchasing and related clerical work is required.

KNOWLEDGE: Must have a good knowledge of local market practices and of the capability of local suppliers.  Must understand local pricing customs and practices.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  Level 4 (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required.  (This may be tested). Level 4 (Fluent) speaking/Reading/Writing of Montenegrin language is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Must have the ability to operate standard office equipment, including use of computers, and software packages for word processing and data manipulation. Must be familiar with Internet search tools and on-line purchase practices.  Must have a local driver’s license category B.

Qualifications:  All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certifications.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.  Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
