On June 26, Ambassador Uyehara joined the Red Cross of Montenegro and the Ministry of Education representatives in giving remarks at the closing ceremony of the Horizons out of my Corner project supported by the U.S. Embassy Podgorica.

The project gathered a diverse group of about 40 elementary school students and their teachers from the north and the south of Montenegro who took part in the Red Cross youth camp held at two different locations June 22-26: in Mojkovac for the students from the south of Montenegro and in Sutomore for those from the north of Montenegro. The camp participants learnt about critical thinking, civic and leadership activism, first aid, and volunteer work with the help of the Red Cross and the Montenegrin American Youth Alumni Association (MAYAA) volunteers and in cooperation with American Corners in Podgorica and Pljevlja. At the closing ceremony in Podgorica, the camp participants had an opportunity to meet each other and exchange experiences, as well as talk to U.S. Ambassador Uyehara and share with her their impressions from the last week.
