On October 26, 2023, NGO MASTER organized a conference to wrap-up their 2022-2023 project titled “We are the Change,” which was funded by the U.S. Embassy’s Democracy Commission Small Grants Program. Deputy Chief of Mission Nicole Otallah gave opening remarks, emphasizing the Embassy’s dedication to working with civil society to champion the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. She also highlighted the importance of supporting projects such as this one that empower marginalized groups, including youth, eager to be the harbingers of positive change in their communities.
The goal of the conference was to familiarize a wider Montenegrin audience with the project activities and results, including a survey of youth and a series of eight podcasts, and to provide an avenue for discussion on the position of youth in Montenegro. Attendees included the Ombudsman to Montenegro, the Minister of Human and Minority Rights, and other representatives from government, civil society, and international organizations.
