Training Deployment to the State Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Croatia

The Embassy of the United States, in cooperation with the OSCE mission to Montenegro organized a training deployment to the State Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Croatia on 15 and 16 of December 2016. The subject of the training deployment was “Transparency in the work of prosecutors and relations with the public and media”.

The participants in this training deployment were representatives of the Prosecution, Center for Training in Judiciary and State Prosecution, Agency for Prevention of Corruption, US Embassy, and OSCE.

Croatian trainers included the Chief State Prosecutor of the Republic of Croatia, Dinko Cvitan, Director of USKOK Tamara Lopuš, PR Officer of the State Prosecutor’s Office Martina Mihordin, and Deputy Director of USKOK Nataša Đurović.

The main subjects that were discussed during the two days training were relations with the media and the public, with an emphasis on legal and ethical dispositions, presentation and analysis of the work and practice, organization of the everyday work of the PR officers and evaluation of published articles. Free access to information was discussed as well.

The following day the Department for fight against corruption and public relations of USKOK conducted a presentation of their activities, which include the following of electronic and printed media, preparation of press releases for the USKOK web page, answering journalists’ requests and acting upon requests according to the Law on Free Access to Information.

This valuable learning opportunity represents another effort of the US Embassy’s INL Program in favor of the continuing reform and advancement of the rule of law in Montenegro.
