Missing Persons

If you need to reach someone in Montenegro because of an emergency or because you are worried about his or her health or welfare, please contact the Embassy using any of the means listed in the Key Information box. You can also contact the State Department’s Office of Overseas Citizens Services in Washington at (202) 647-5225, and that office will pass the information to us in Podgorica.

Please provide as much information as you can about the person and his/her travel itinerary.  We can contact Montenegrin immigration, the police, hotels, transportation companies, and even hospitals and morgues if necessary.

If we locate the person, then we will pass along any message you wish.  However, you must understand that not everyone wants to be found, and the person who is “missing” has rights under the Privacy Act.  If we find that person, and if he or she then does not wish us to reveal any information about his/her whereabouts or condition, then we are bound by law to respect those wishes.
