On May 13, 2021, U.S. Ambassador Judy Rising Reinke visited the National Police Directorate’s Forensic Center in Danilovgrad to donate IT equipment valued at $108,000. This equipment provides the Forensic Center with a secure computer network and data storage, helping the center as it prepares to transition to an automated laboratory information management system.
Ambassador Reinke joined Acting Police Director Zoran Brdjanin to tour the Forensic Center and to view the work of the examiners. The new information management system will provide full accountability and transparency in how evidence is analyzed. This, in turn, will advance the reliability of forensic analysis in judicial proceedings. The U.S. Embassy works closely with the Police Directorate to strengthen its ability to counter organized crime and to help meet EU accession requirements.
U.S. Embassy support to the Forensic Center is part of the Department of Justice’s International Criminal Investigative Training and Assistance Program, while the donation of IT equipment was made possible through funding provided by the Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
