U.S. Embassy Honors Women’s History Month with tour by Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards in Montenegro

The United States Embassy in Podgorica, in cooperation with American Music Abroad and local partners in Kotor, Niksic, Pljevlja and Podgorica is organizing a tour by Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards in Montenegro March 8-15.  The band will perform at the St. Paul’s Church in Kotor on March 10 at 7 p.m., at the Zahumlje Theater in Niksic on March 11 at 7 p.m., at the Dom Vojske in Pljevlja on March 13 at 7 p.m., and at Hard Rock café in Podgorica on March 14 at 9 p.m.   Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards will also perform on March 9 at the residence of U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Margaret Ann Uyehara, in honor of International Women’s Day.  In addition to the concerts, Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards will also have workshops with music students in Cetinje, Kotor and Pljevlja.

True to their adventurous spirit and wide-ranging influences, the group was recently selected for the second time from a pool of 400 bands to tour with the U.S. State Department’s American Music Abroad program. In 2014, the band toured India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh to perform and teach as artist ambassadors. Their current tour has already taken them to Estonia and Greece.
