
The Embassy, in cooperation with American Music Abroad and local partners in Kotor, Niksic, Pljevlja and Podgorica organized a tour by Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards in Montenegro March 8-15. The band performed at the residence of U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Margaret Ann Uyehara, in honor of International Women’s Day, at the St. Paul’s Church in Kotor, Zahumlje Theater in Niksic, Dom Vojske in Pljevlja and at Hard Rock Café in Podgorica.
They were joined for their final performance at Hard Rock café by “Allegria” string quartet, a local female band underscoring the importance of women in arts, but also cooperation between U.S. and Montenegrin artists.

During performances in Niksic and Podgorica, after singing their song, Women of the Ages, Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards gave the floor to women, USG alumnae, recognizable activists and promoters of women’s rights in Montenegro to share their messages to the audience.
In addition to the concerts, Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards held workshops with music students in Cetinje and Kotor. They also visited the Access Program classroom in Niksic to dance and sing with very enthusiastic students.
