U.S. Navy Ship Visits Montenegro (2015/6/26)

The U.S. Navy Whidbey Island Dock Landing Ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD-43) is visiting Bar, Montenegro, on June 24-28 for a scheduled port visit as part of the U.S.-Montenegro bilateral defense relationship.

During the visit to Montenegro, the Commanding Officer, Commander Thomas Ulmer, and members of the ship’s crew have met with their Montenegrin Navy counterparts and local officials and citizens of Bar.  Commander Ulmer had an official call with the Mayor of Bar, Zoran Srzentić, and Montenegro’s Navy Commander Captain Darko Vukovic.  The crew members along with their Montenegrin Navy peers also participated in a community relations project at the local High School “Niko Rolovic.”

This port visit serves to continue U.S. 6th Fleet efforts to build U.S.-Montenegrin interoperability as part of a Global Network of Navies to improve maritime safety and security in the region.
