U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Judy Rising Reinke, together with the English Language Teachers’ Association of Montenegro (ELTAM) president Dragana Radoman, Mayor of Cetinje Aleksandar Kašćelan, and Ministry of Education representative Marash Dukaj officially launched the English Access Program in Cetinje on March 9, 2020. This is the fifth Access Program in Montenegro, building upon the success of the previous programs in Nikšić (2015- 2017), Podgorica (2016-2018), and Rožaje (2017-2019), in addition to the ongoing program in Nikšić (2018 – present).
The English Access Program is a two-year, intensive, afterschool English-language learning program for talented students sponsored by the Department of State. The Montenegro implementing partner is the English Language Teachers’ Association of Montenegro (ELTAM). Twenty students 13-16 years of age have been selected for the program based on the program’s requirements. The selected students come from five different schools in Cetinje.
Over the next two years, the students will work on improving their English language skills while learning more about U.S. culture and democratic values. The goal of the program is to empower youth, support diversity, and increase cultural exchange. The classes will be held at the American Corner in Cetinje.
