US Ambassador Uyehara joined today the Supreme State Prosecutor Ivica Stankovic, National Coordinator for Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings Zoran Ulama, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime representative Davor Raus in opening the Conference on “Protection of Human Trafficking Victims in Criminal Proceedings”.
This four day Conference focuses on the legislative and institutional framework in Montenegro, control mechanisms, victims protection, as well as international cooperation in this regard. Participants are experts, judges, prosecutors, police officers and representatives of the non-government sector. U.S. Embassy INL Resident Legal Advisor Erik Larson presented the latest findings of the U.S. State Department Report on Trafficking in Persons, as well as his experience in prosecuting cases throughout the Balkans.
This Conference is funded by the U.S. Department of State, through the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and organized by the Government of Montenegro Office for the Fights against Trafficking in Human Beings.
