The United States Embassy in Podgorica and its Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program organized training for a total of 60 Montenegrin Customs and Border Police Officers on November 10-14, 2014. The training was delivered by EXBS instructors, experienced former U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency. The United States, through the EXBS program has provided over $4 million in training and equipment to help Montenegro strengthen its border security, export controls and non-proliferation efforts.
The purpose of this training was to further enhance the skills of the participants in using the EXBS donated equipment. EXBS instructors went out to the field and delivered the training at five Border Crossing Points to groups of 12 BP and Customs Officers.
The EXBS program is a U.S. Government interagency program, designed to help prevent proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), their missile delivery systems, conventional weapons, and related items by assisting foreign governments to establish and implement effective export control systems that meet international standards.
