
U.S. Embassy, through its Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program, organized a visit to Slovenia for a Montenegrin government delegation to discuss Strategic Trade Control (STC) issues. Eight Montenegrin officials from the Ministries of Economy, Foreign Affairs, Defense and Internal Affairs took part in the Slovenia-Montenegro STC Consultations, held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on March 4-5. The visit was hosted by Slovenian Government, with support from the U.S. Embassy in Ljubljana. Slovenian officials from Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Defense, Interior, and Agency for Nuclear Safety, National Chemicals Office, Financial Administration and General Police Directorate presented Slovenian export control system. The two delegations exchanged experiences and best practices and agreed on follow up activities and increased cooperation in the field of STC.
In the last several years, the EXBS program has provided over $4 million in assistance with training and equipment to support Montenegro’s efforts to strengthen border security, export controls and non-proliferation efforts.
