USS Normandy Visits Port of Bar

On September 18, 2023, the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy arrived in the Port of Bar for several days as part of a visit to strengthen the U.S.-NATO partnership and friendship with Montenegro as a partner and NATO Ally. The U.S. Embassy’s Regional Security Office (RSO) and the U.S. Navy hosted police officers (PJP unit) on a tour of the USS Normandy, and on September 20, Command Master Chief William Palmer hosted a reception for Montenegrin civic and military officials. At the reception, Charge d’affaires Nicole Otallah gave remarks celebrating the U.S.-Montenegro partnership and emphasizing its importance to regional security.

Normandy is part of the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group and is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied, and partner interests.
