Summary: The U.S. Mission in Podgorica, Montenegro is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Political/Economic Assistant (Temporary).
The work schedule for this position is:
- full time – 40 hours per week.
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time after the receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: No
Duties: Supports the advancement of U.S. Government foreign and economic policy objectives, and monitors, analyzes and reports on the political and economic situation in Montenegro with a particular focus on human rights, religious freedoms, labor issues, and the environment. Arranges meetings and accompanies U.S. Government officials. Acts as interpreter/translator and note-taker in meetings with Montenegrin officials, party leaders, NGOs and others, and is the backup protocol assistant.

Qualifications and Evaluations
EDUCATION: Must have Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in international relations, political sciences, social sciences, or related field.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: At least three years of experience in the field of politics, journalism, education, international affairs, economic/business development is required.
KNOWLEDGE: A comprehensive knowledge of Montenegro’s political, economic, business and social structure, as well institutions, political parties, historical development and key political figures is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level 4 (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required. (Will be tested). Level 4 (fluent) speaking/Reading/Writing of Montenegrin language is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have thorough knowledge of computers. Must be able to obtain and evaluate a variety of data, and organize and present information in concise written and oral form. Must have the ability to translate in meetings.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certifications.
